Our vision… is to obey the Great Commission in the city of Sunderland. We aim to reach out to people with the good news of Jesus. We aim to build one another up in that good news and we aim to send out more workers into the Lord’s harvest field.
To that end there are 3 principles that govern Trinity Church Sunderland
Our aim is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ as King and Saviour to the world and to each other. The impact of His death and resurrection is at the very core of church life. It is through the proclamation of this gospel that people are saved and transformed. We proclaim Him and we must proclaim Him in a way that meets the people of Sunderland where they are as well as establishes us to walk as mature Christian disciples.
The wonder of the gospel is that God saves us and calls us to be a new people. He calls us to Himself and to each other. We grow as Christians in community as we gather around God’s Word and gospel God’s Word to one another. That is not restricted to weekly meetings but should shape us in the midst of everyday life. In other words, we share our lives together in joy and in pain, tears and laughter, allowing the gospel to impact every aspect of life.
If we are to make an impact for Christ in Sunderland, to reach, build and send then we need to pray that we will genuinely stand out in the city of Sunderland and “shine like stars in the universe.” Our Christian community should make people sit up and take notice of Jesus. We long that His name will be honoured and take root in Sunderland. To that end we should be involved in the local life of the city with the intention of making Him known.
